2010 Scholarship Forms
Alleghany High School Seniors may apply for numerous scholarships by using the common local application form. Amounts of money awarded, as well as criteria, will vary according to the discretion of individuals or groups who provide funding for the scholarship. Completing a scholarship application does not guarantee receipt of a scholarship. Alleghany County Educational Foundation does not discriminate on basis of race, gender, religion, creed, or sexual orientation.
Each local scholarship application must include:
- a letter explaining family circumstances and need
- a Senior Activities & Honors Sheet
- SAR from FAFSA
- proof of acceptance into college
Most common criteria include financial need, extra curricular activities, rank and GPA. Some will consider specific college majors, which is indicated on the application. (i.e. Primary consideration for the Rebecca Choate Scholarship is given to an education major.)
Completed applications must be turned in to the Alleghany High School Guidance Office by March 5, 2010.
