Elizabeth “Betsy” Doughton Dillon Scholarship is for students pursuing a four year degree at a university or college. Betsy was a native of Alleghany County and taught at Alleghany High School for over 35 years. She taught home economics, family and consumer sciences and even a a manners class. After retiring, she was elected to the Alleghany County Board of Education, where she continued to sere the students and teachers of the County. Betsy was a champion and cheerleader for many, particularly those students who had challenges in their lives. She also was a strong advocate for her students to purse post-secondary education.
