Robert and Elizabeth were interested in promoting education. Robert managed his family’s hardware, industrial supplies, paint and sporting goods store and one of the founders of Durham Technical Community College. Elizabeth graduated from Women’s College (now UNC Greensboro) with an art degree. She taught art in the Durham County Schools and was a prolific and active artist throughout her life. Their scholarship strives to promote education in various fields including medicine, education, information technology, industrial fields and art, but is not limited to these areas. The mission is to help those who are wanting to pursue various fields of study and to give back to the community.
