Howard and Rosalie Lyon were Alleghany County natives. Mr. Lyon graduated from UNC Chapel Hill and Bowling Green University. He was a trust office for Wachovia Bank for 36 years. Mrs. Lyon graduated from Appalachian State University and retired from teaching after 36 years of educating primary age children. Mr. and Mrs. Lyon returned to Alleghany County in 1971 after retirement.
